The Iowa Department Of Public Health has released further guidance that will allow fitness centers to resume group fitness and Pilates classes as long as participants stay at least six feet apart AT ALL TIMES.  Group Fitness and Pilates classes will resume as scheduled and social distancing is required.

Due to Governor Reynolds’ and the Iowa Department of Public Health’s newest proclamation that was released on Monday evening, the Rec Center is prohibited from having group sporting activities until further notice. This newest proclamation is in effect until December 10 or until further guidance is received. League play is also still on hold at this time.

Mask Policy Reminder

As the COVID-19 case counts continue to be high in our area, the Rec Center is requiring masks at all times when in the Rec Center except when working out at a high intensity or when showering.

When exercising at a high intensity, be very mindful of social distancing guidelines so as not to put others around you at risk. Fortunately, the Rec Center is a 60,000 square foot facility which provides ample space for fitness activities while easily maintaining an appropriate social distance.

Masks are also required:

  • When entering and exiting the Rec Center
  • When walking to locker rooms and when in the locker rooms except while showering
  • When moving from machine to machine
  • When stretching and foam rolling

The above are just a few examples and should not be considered to be an all-inclusive list.

We are asking for our member’s cooperation and compliance with the mask policy so we can continue to keep our doors open and provide quality fitness programming to help keep our members and staff healthy and strong!
